Use Independents Only inside your own AI

AI assistants tend to recommend the biggest brands. Connect Independents Only and yours can search a checked list of independent businesses instead, and tell you which results are owner-confirmed.

It runs on your own AI subscription. We don't see your conversations, only the search your assistant sends us (for example “plumber, Hertford”).

The connection address

This is a standard MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. It needs no sign-in or key.

Claude

1. Open Claude, go to Settings → Connectors and choose “Add custom connector”.
2. Name it Independents Only and paste the address above.
3. In a chat, ask for something like “an independent bakery near Ware”.

ChatGPT

1. Look for Independents Only in ChatGPT's app directory. If it isn't there yet, you can add it yourself where your plan allows custom connectors (Settings → Apps & Connectors, with developer mode on).
2. Paste the address above and name it Independents Only.
3. Ask ChatGPT to use Independents Only when you want independent businesses.

Other assistants and developers

Any assistant or agent that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP can use the address above. It offers three tools:

• search_independent_businesses: what you need and where.
• check_business_independence: is this shop part of a chain?
• suggest_independent_business: tell us about one we're missing.

No setup at all

Every results page has “Ask your own AI” buttons. They open ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Gemini with an independents-only request already written, so you only have to press send.
