Privacy
Draft. Have this checked before launch and add the operator's name and contact address.
Searching
Independents Only uses no advertising or tracking cookies. We record what was searched, how many results came back, and an anonymous visitor code that changes every day and can't be turned back into your IP address. We use this to count visitors and to see which towns and trades to add next.
AI assistants
If you connect Independents Only to an AI assistant, we receive only the searches your assistant sends us, not your conversation. The “Ask your own AI” buttons send you to that AI company's website; their own privacy policy applies there.
Reports and suggestions
We don't ask for your name. To stop one person reporting a listing many times, we store an anonymous code derived from your connection.
Business owners
When you claim a listing we store your name, and your email if you give it, only to manage your listing. We never sell it or use it for marketing.
Email updates
If you sign up for “new independents in your town” emails, we keep your email address, the town, and when you agreed. We only email you after you confirm, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe. Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after 30 days. Emails are sent through Resend, our email provider.
Claiming a listing by email
If you claim a listing by email, we keep the address we sent the code to until the code is used or has expired.
Page visits
We count page visits: the page, the day, the site you came from, and the anonymous daily code. No cookies, no IP addresses, no postcodes you type. Visit records are deleted after 13 months.
Business listings
Listings contain business information (name, address, website, phone) from public business information or provided by the owner. If you run a listed business and want it removed, use “Report” on its page and choose “Something else”.
Bot protection
Some forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that check.
